2025 Distribution Rate Increase
Citizens’ Electric has filed to increase distribution rates. Unlike generation rates, which are updated twice or more annually, we rarely adjust distribution rates. Citizens’ last filed for a distribution rate increase in 2022, which took effect in January of 2023. We expect a similar timeframe for this request. Since our last filing in 2022, the cost of operating, maintaining, and investing in our distribution system have increased significantly. It is necessary to adjust our rates to ensure that we can continue to provide our customers with the safe and reliable electric service they expect and deserve from Citizens’ Electric Company.
We know that no cost increase is welcome, especially at a time when costs seem to be rising at every turn. For customers that may struggle to keep up with increased bills, we encourage you to contact us proactively to understand the impact of this increase and so that we can help connect you with payment assistance options.
